Hello, I’m Tanya

I’m a mother, an Australian expatriate, and a Vedic meditation teacher. Before becoming a meditation teacher I worked in global communications for an international organisation and understand the demands and challenges of the corporate world.

My Vedic meditation journey began in 2016, after trying a number of other techniques that required me to empty my mind of thoughts, or to observe them. I found these techniques frustrating and discouraging, and what was happening outside of meditation — anxiety and insomnia — wasn’t changing. Despite these frustrations I kept being pushed towards meditation and finally found a Vedic meditation teacher here in Paris, and decided to take the plunge.

On the second day of the course, my teacher asked me for one word that described how I felt. I said, “relief”. I had finally found the technique I had been waiting my whole life for.

My teacher training consisted of over 2000 hours of study including a 12-week immersion with some of the tradition’s great masters, nestled away in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas. I was personally trained by Shri 1008 Mahamandaleshwar Maharishi Vyasanand Giri Maharaj Thom Knoles, who is the first Westerner to be inducted as Mahamandaleshwar, a pre-eminent master of Veda, in the Shankaracharya tradition. I graduated from Vedic Meditation Initiator Training with special blessings and endorsement from Shri Shri 1008 Swami Kailashanand Giri, supreme authority of the Vedic world.

I have called Paris home for nearly 10 years. I teach in both English and French.
